GLBA Handbook – updated 2022

New handbook policies for 1st-12th grade:

Church Attendance Policy

1st-12th grade students are required to attend church services for Sunday School, Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening every week. We believe that Jesus loved the church and died for it. Today, His work on this earth is accomplished through the power of His Spirit working through His church. We understand that the “foolishness of preaching” brings men to salvation and by it, we are made wise and strong. (1 Corinthians 1:21-25). It is important for young people to build a foundation on God’s Word both personally and corporately. By placing a consistent emphasis on the Word of God and the meeting of the local church, we desire to instill in our students a greater love for the Lord and His people. (2 Timothy 3:15-17) Through the ministry of the local church, our students will have opportunities to learn more about the Lord and have a venue in which to serve Him. We believe that the preaching of God’s Word is essential and must be made a priority in the life of every Christian. Therefore, students are required to submit a weekly report of church attendance and ministry involvement. Students must attend Gospel Light Baptist Church for any of the above mentioned services not held by their home church.

Study Policies

Due to the nature of the answers provided on websites and apps such as Quizlet, ChatGPT, etc, it is against school policy for GLBA students to prepare for assessments using these and similar assistant services. These applications hinder the students from achieving a full understanding of the material and allow them to pass an assessment without mastering the content or skills themselves. We desire for our students to employ honest and ethical practices and develop learning strategies and personal study habits that will help them for all of life.
