Gospel Light Baptist Academy serves elementary, junior high, and senior high students in 1st through 12th grades. Students receive 360 minutes of daily instruction in the classroom with a lower student-to-teacher ratio than what is recommended by the state in order to increase quality of education.
Phonics mastery is the cornerstone of the elementary reading program while strong foundations are systematically laid in mathematics, grammar, science, history, and geography.
Gospel Light Baptist Academy is known for being a school with high academic standards, equipping students for success in whatever field God directs them. One of the reasons for such excellence is the exemplary curriculum in each of their classes. In addition to the basic academic curriculum, students in the elementary school benefit from enrichment classes such as Bible, Music, Library, Art, and Physical Education.
Weekly chapel times provide the students with a large group of corporate worship where they interact with songs, stories, and other fun ways to bring the Bible to life.
Students also participate in the annual Iowa Achievement Testing. This is also another way of standardized measure to ensure students are meeting or exceeding goals. Curriculum-based tests, observation and informal testing complete a well-rounded evaluation process.
The hours of instruction begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m. Before-school care (beginning at 7:00 a.m.) is available at no cost to you, and after-school care (until 6:00 p.m.) is available at an additional charge.
